Elbows

I returned to Urgent Care on Sunday-after having been there on Friday-
but this time with Abby Kay.

She fell while jumping on a trampoline and dislocated her elbow (its
called nurse maid elbow). We found out today -after returning to the
doctor because her elbow is very swollen & she won't use her arm -
that she also bruised the bone.

We know the dr at urgent care by first name now - as well as the
radiologist.

Pray for Miss Abby Kay. This elbow business makes my usually jolly
child terribly cranky.

Bribery

Yes I can be bribed-& evidently so can Abby.

She would ONLY agree to wear pig tails IF I would let her eat
spaghetti-o's for breakfast.

Who says spaghetti sauce & meatballs aren't nutritious?

Oh but doesn't she look so CUTE!

Doctor

And....this is the doctor who irrigated the pebble OUT of his ear.

When he looked in his ear with an otoscope he said 'I can't tell if
its actually a rock or just ear wax'

Well. That was because the pebble Hayden inserted in his ear was
yellow & black striped.

Mister Hayden Ray

This is the ear that Hayden decided to insert the pebble-rock in.

Oh. Just wait. More to come.

Big Bend Run 2008

We had SO much fun! And met so many new people!

David & I headed out in 32 degree weather a couple of Friday's ago to meet Randy & Lindy over at the Harley Wild West shop. Thankfully it didn't stay that cold for long.

We then joined over 50 bikes that stretched more than 1 mile and rode down to Ft. Davis, and through Big Bend National Park.

Oh but wait. We stopped in Andrews, TX and ate some AMAZING steak fingers at Buddy's Drive in. Seriously. If you ever - for any reason - find yourself going through Andrew, TX you must stop and have a basket of steakfingers at Buddys. YUM.

Actually. I would FIND a reason to drive to Andrews JUST for the steakfingers. :)

Ok. Back to regular programming.

This was the first "ride" we'd ever been a part of - and it was so much fun! Can't wait til the next.

Disclaimer here. This is far from my "best work" (ha.) I was on the back of a motorcycle for most of these shots. :) Enjoy ANYWAY :)

Game Ball

I'm a little behind on this post...

Last Thursday the wind BLEW. This is nothing new for Lubbock, but not only did the wind blow...it was COLD...and Hayden had a baseball game. All three rolled up in one.

This did not faze boy wonder. I, however sat with Nannie under about 5 blankets.

Let me set the scene. We are tied. Hayden gets up to bat. He knocks THE SNOT out of the ball...and gets on FIRST BASE. He runnnnnnss as fast as he can to do this.

I can't really explain how Hayden runs. But that boy tries hard. It's like his knees are bound together with a rubber band. :)

So while the wind blows, and Hayden runs, he ends up running to Third base on a hit.

Remember. We are tied. This is some serious stuff. So our friend Cy Hill SENDS HAYDEN TO STEAL HOME on an overthrow.

And I About Died.

The blankets come away. I am up screaming, "Run Hayden Run"

It's a scene from Forrest Gump

that quickly turns to this scene from Chicken Little

(fast forward to the end if you'd like)

Mind you- however - Hayden is a fantastic baseball player. :)

His little legs are spinning. He is headed to HOME. When the opposite team gets wind of this - the little boy heads to home too...and tags Hayden about TWO feet from the plate. (Refer to Chicken Little)

OH. NO.

BUT WAIT! Hayden is such a big boy that he knocks the ball OUT of the little guys hand! And it ROLLS away from the plate!

HAYDEN!!!! TOUCH THE BASE, TOUCH THE BASE!!! Everyone in the stands screams. All the coaches scream.

So.

Hayden "jogs" to the plate....plants both feet. Jumps in the air and WITH MIGHTY MIGHTY force...lands both FEET ON THE PLATE FOR A SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!! And as he lands...all the dust underneath the plate comes bellowing out!

At the end of the game Coach Chad awarded Hayden the much desired Game Balllll (insert Echo)
GO HAYDEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I'm not proud or anything :)

Kay's Cat

Wow. I received this email from Dad. Please note the time. They sure are keeping the late hours!  And look at how big that catfish is!!!!!From: Steve Pepper
Date: April 19, 2008 12:05:15 AM CDT
Subject:Kay's Cat

How do you clean a big boy like this?
Very carefully and with a sharp knife.

Fish fry April 27. 5pm Knox City park

Holy Cow!

>
I should say Holy Fish!!

For those of you who don't know...this is Hayden & Abby's Nannie. She
is one fisherwoman. And that fish my friends is a 42-pound catfish.
WOMAN!

Mom called a few minutes after this photo was taken - out of breath &
talking 90 miles an hour. Evidently she began screaming to Dad when
she realized the sized of this monster. Dad said, "you want me to get
the net?!"

Rumor is the catfish is being mounted & stuffed to be displayed
proudly on the living room wall next to Dorothy, Toto, glenda & the
wicked witch. :)

Congratulations Nannie!!

Abby Kay

Seriously. This child says to me - from the back seat 'MOmma. I Love
You.'

I'm thinking what a Fabulous most loving offspring of mine! To offer
freely such an endearing gesture!

'I love you too, Abby Kay!'

And as I turn around to look at my TENDER LOVING CHILD---she greets me
with her hands IN THE AIR Showing me how she has applied PEANUT BUTTER
on her hands as IF IT WERE LOTION. Lovely.

Oh. I love you too, Abby.

Becca's Fish!

Would you LOOK AT THIS FISH!

This is my cousin Miss Becca. SHE caught this fish!

It's a 21 pounder! Evidently she hooked that bad boy in the tail fin and her Papa thought she had gotten her line hung on the bottom.

It was hung alright - on the back of the cat!

Her Granny claims she learned how to fish from her.

I want lessons.

Oh. And please note that this girl caught this fish WITH A CAST on her arm! WOMAN!

Congrats Becca! :)

My Baby Girl!

She started asking about 4 months ago.

I kind - of put her off.

"We'll do it soon, Abby! Soon!"

Then she started asking more frequently.

"Ok. We will go, Abby!"

So she asked AGAIn this morning and I knew she was ready.

After her nap we headed to Icing at the Mall.

She was SUCH a big girl! She did not CRY. She did not FLINCH!

She was so excited!

So.

Today.

My baby girl took her own big step.....

Aren't they beautiful!!????!!!!
Congratulations Miss Abby Kay!
